GURU POORNIMA, MMJ, KIRTAN, AND KAI

  • Atmavidya Yoga and Meditation 10 Plover Street Christchurch, Canterbury, 8062 New Zealand (map)

We welcome the full moon Turu and this time of celebrating the light and wisdom of that which reflects the greater Light of Consciousness within and through our tradition of Yoga.

Swami Niranjanananda Saraswati says, Guru is the realization of an inner state of purity, harmony and oneness with the inner spirit. The outer form is the catalyst and guide who may lead us to that source of inspiration and strength. That is how we can understand the concept of guru. The energy of guru is eternal and permanent; it never dies, never decays and never changes.

Let us enjoy chanting of a mantra to connect us with and honour that deeper Light of Wisdom.

We will also chant Mahamrityunjaya mantra to allow expansion of connection with courage and transformation in the face of the challenges of life for all those who need this energy.

May we extend this resonance to all beings to help grow our collective wisdom and compassion.

The Mahamrityunjaya chanting practice will be followed by the mantra meditation practice of Kirtan around 5.00pm.

Kirtan is a form of purification and liberation. The mantras sensitise us and polish away the clutter in our heads and melt the numbness in our hearts so that we can feel clear, awake and brilliantly alive.

We welcome the opportunity to experience spaciousness and aroha through these beautiful practices.

Time: 4.00 - 6.00pm

Followed by: shared plant based kai meal

Venue: Plover Street, Southshore

Contribution: By Koha

Please RSVP to: atmavidya7@gmail.com

"It was found that during repetitive singing of kirtan,

the brain registers the sound waves, nada,

which influence all other wave patterns of the brain.

These waves awaken alpha rhythms which immediately induce tranquility.

Thus by singing kirtan, we experience peace of mind."

Swami Satyananda Saraswati
